Hortulus Foundation's 2016 England Garden Tour

East & West Sussex & Kent

Our 2016 tour takes us to East & West Sussex and Kent, which are conveniently located just south
of London.

Our primary hotel, Gravetye Manor, a manor house nestled in a wooded vale insulated by 900 acres of land and spectacular gardens and dating to 1598, was once home to William Robinson, the pioneer of natural gardens. His books The English Flower Garden and The Wild Garden are two of the most influential and taste-changing horticultural tomes of all time.

We hope you will join us in our exploration of many of this area’s very special gardens. Some of the
owners, head gardeners, and guest lecturers are personal friends who will insure a uniquely informative experience with access to homes and gardens rarely seen by the public. Ringmer Park, Clinton Lodge, Hever Castle and Gardens, Goodnestone Park Gardens and, of course, Sissinghurst and Great Dixter, are just some of the gardens we’ll visit and we’ll be having lunches and dinners in some of the gardens.

Due to limited accommodations at Gravetye, we're planning a smaller group this year, so please
send in your reservation forms promptly and do make your airline reservations soon. A preliminary
summary of our garden visits follows, which we’ll be further populating with special lunches, dinners
and lectures.

This tour is sponsored by the Hortulus Farm Foundation. Our mission as it’s current owners is to
preserve Hortulus Farm, a 100-acre 18th Century farmstead and garden in Wrightstown, PA, as a
public place of respite, inspiration and education in perpetuity.
